Rally Together with Team USA's Dustin Watten

On TUESDAY, APRIL 21st, Team USA athlete, Dustin Watten (Dustin's Instagram) will take over North Country Region's Instagram account (NCR Instagram)!

Dustin was an All-American Libero at Long Beach State.  He has gone on to play ten years as a professional in Finland, France, Germany, Poland and a year in Brazil. During his time competing with Team USA, he’s accrued over 8 medals and won the World Cup in 2015.

Dustin wasn’t always on a path to being a professional. The first two club teams he made were “B” teams, his first JO experience saw his team finishing dead last, and he wasn’t even a starter on his club team until his senior year of High School.

He will share 7 tips and ideas that he currently uses in his downtime as a professional to keep his body and mind sharp with the goal to help inspire you to get the most out of the quarantine and to help you build habits that will continue to benefit you once you get back on the court!

Dustin will speak a lot on the benefits of journaling during the takeover, and he has made a special promo code for all NCR athletes to get his journal that he sells for free, along with an explanation on how to use the journal and 21 articles on mindfulness. (Journal)  (Promo Code: ncr)

Dustin is also giving away a Free 7 Day Passing Course, 6,000 words broken up into 7 days, to help show what the best players in the world are doing in reception and how you can learn more about the technical side of being a great receiver. Just register with your email at his website at www.noezybuckets.com and you will receive an email a day with a different topic on how to be a more confident and stronger receiver.

If you have any questions for Dustin, you can reach out to him at his Instagram account @dustinwatten now or later, and he will answer them during his IG Live on TUESDAY, APRIL 21st starting at 12:45  PM CDT.

For the coaches and clubs, Dustin is also offering free Zoom Webinars, where he will share his screen and as a team, (up to 100 viewers) you will review, study and learn from the best receivers in the world, with Dustin leading the discussion on how he studies other great Liberos. He will go over what makes them great and how younger athletes can use what they are doing, towards their growth in becoming a more confident passer, while leaving time for a Q&A after to make sure the athletes and coaches absorb the content that was covered.

Take advantage of these excellent opportunities: Instagram Takeover, Free Journal, Free Passing Course, Free Zoom Webinars with your team and/or entire club!

Rally Together with a Weekend Family Project!

It's Friday which means the weekend is here - yay!  This weekend how about spending some time on a fun family project - building a setter target that will provide hours of volleyball practice while we #StayHome.   I've heard a few great things about this particular target:  Relatively simple and inexpensive to build on your own Target basket is adjustable to different heights and angles Not too heavy to move and transport   Families who have used the below plans to create a target have tailored them to their specific needs - one following the plans exactly and one varying slightly the target shape and adding a net (see Hally's video above).  Both devices work well for their individual purposes.   The plans are even simple enough for players to help build themselves with a little supervision!   Shalyn building her own setter target! "Measure twice, cut once!" And here's the finished product in action . . . .  The plan

Rally Together with a New Weekend Family Project!

TGIF!  Looking forward to the weekend, and no better way to spend the weekend than another fun family volleyball project!  Just like the last project we posted ( a Setter Target ), this rebound board will provide hours and hours of volleyball fun and valuable reps!  The plans for this particular rebound board were created by engineer by day/volleyball dad by night and weekend, Greg Samson, who graciously agreed to share them with all of us!  These plans include diagrams and detailed instruction, making them easy to follow, and the board itself is made to last.  This is definitely a volleyball project worth investing time and effort into building.   The rebound board can be used by one or more players as demonstrated in the videos below.  Using the board with the Setter Target is a great way to get setting reps off of a "live" ball - it's about as realistic as we can get right now!   A genuine "thank you" to Greg for not only creating these plans but also for sh
