Looking for a fun way to keep that competitive spirit rolling in your athletes? Organize a Zoom Game Night! Zoom has become the go-to app for staying in contact while we all #StayHome, and all sorts of ingenious ideas have been borne in the last several weeks so that we don't all have to just stare at each other on Zoom - instead, we can play some games and compete - YES!
While I'm certain the possibilities are endless, here are just a few of the games that work great with Zoom to get you started.
- PICTIONARY: I'm certainly partial to this game, as this was a family favorite while growing up. So fun and super simple to play on Zoom!
- Divide the group into teams.
- Everyone uses a website with a Word Generator, like this one from The Game Gal: The Game Gal Word Generator
- In Zoom, the artist can simply click on Share Screen and then select the Whiteboard option, where they can draw and all other participants can view.
- Each team should have a timekeeper. If a team guesses the correct word within the time limit, they get a point!
- CHARADES: You can't beat a great game of charades, and this is another game easily played on Zoom!
- Divide the group into teams.
- Everyone uses a Charades Words/Phrase Generator. like this site: Get Charades Ideas. This particular site gives you the option of selecting specific categories such as Movies, Books, Actors, Singers, Bands, Athletes, TV Shows & Songs.
- Teammates can communicate via individual chat to get each round going.
- Each team should have a timekeeper. If a team guesses the correct word in time, they get the point!
- TRIVIA NIGHT: Trivia always, always, always provides fierce competition!
- Divide the group into teams or make this an every teammate for themselves battle.
- You can go old school and use a Trivial Pursuit game and simply track points manually OR use an online option like this one: Trivia Maker. Trivia Maker's awesomeness lies in the ability to create your own trivia questions if you want to make this challenge about your team, your club, your town, the game of volleyball or you name it! They also have trivia games already created if you want to go that route as well.
Here's to staying connected, creating a fun atmosphere, and providing competition in any way we can right now! Comment below and let us know if you tried any of these games and/or post some pics and tag us on Facebook (@NCRVolleyball) and Instagram (@northcountryregionvolleyball). Have FUN!
